As a child Mimi Nguyen had "a new project every week". Her mother was a tailor, and Mimi had an interest in fashion and style from an early age. As a young girl she would draw designs and then paste her mom's scraps to the page to fill in her "dresses" and show her friends. Now a founder of a fashion-technology startup called Thre.ad, Mimi enables people to discover and share their fashion picks through social media. Before starting Thre.ad she helped lead Pencils of Promise, an innovative non-profit, that builds schools in developing countries including Laos, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. Mimi shares he story of bridging her passion and skills to new projects, and staying true to who she is.
